42.5 hours per week, 07:00 - 17:00 Monday to Friday (flexibility will be required with start / finish times to cover opening hours), plus some Saturday mornings on a rota

Duties and Responsibilities:
Deputising for the Branch Manager
Ensuring high standards of Customer Service are met throughout the branch operation
Support margin improvement and ensure costs are challenged and controlled to maximise profitability
Assisting with the planning of transport
Assisting with merchandising & stock control
Key holder responsibilities
Helping in all areas of the branch operation as necessary
Support efficient running of the telephone sales office
Help create a proactive and sales orientated culture
Oversee effective support to the external sales representative
Supervising the raising of quotes, orders and the sourcing of non-standard products and price negotiation
Contribute to answering phones in the sales office - responding to a wide range of queries from customers (both trade and retail)
Requirements:
You will need to be highly organised with efficient time management and and the ability to prioritise accordingly
You will need to be confident, and sales focused, be adept at decision making, with excellent interpersonal skills
You will be able to demonstrate effective leadership skills; delegation, leading by example professionalism
Previous experience at a similar level and a good understanding of branch operations in a builders merchant is preferred, or alternatively experience in a related industry
Proactive and enthusiastic attitude
Sound knowledge of building materials, both heavy and light side is preferable, but training can be provided
